For a good 30 minutes after getting up this morning I was labouring under the misapprehension that it was Saturday. Then came the crushing realisation it is only Friday and I gotta go to work.

For quite a while now I’ve felt my life is in a holding pattern. I measure time in days, each marked by the pills I must take for multiple health problems. I’m waiting to have some back surgery. To pass the time I am translating the RigVeda. 10,000 verses. I calculate I’ll be 93 when I finish.

Eight years ago today my friend Dhruba Ghosh left this world. He was a great musician & beautiful human. I remember most his music & silly jokes.
I took these photos in 1999 when he & I travelled from Mumbai to Sholapur, where he was giving a concert.
