Would love to know how many people actually install Adobe Genuine Service.

Surely there can't be enough people using BOTH pirated Adobe software and installing Creative Cloud to make this "feature" worthwhile?

My laptop used to have a noisy capacitor. I kinda liked it, it made different frequency noises under different workloads. It would occasionally chug like an old HDD - bringing a little bit of nostalgia with it.

My laptop no longer makes this sound.

I miss it.

Worked on Usborne book's websites some years ago. Keeping track of links was a serious undertaking and a major feature of some of their books.

They'd buy a TLD for every book of note too - never known anyone before or since spend so much on domain renewals.

With Sodor water.

A client's #Umbraco site was recently taken down by a bot. Here's a post about what happened, and what we did to mitigate the attack.

If you've got an Umbraco site with forms (Umbraco Forms, or surface controllers) you probably need this WAF rule.

This week, one of our sites was brought down by a Denial of Service attack. It wasn’t really a DoS...

Fairly certain that both my parents, as well as my grandparents and great-grandparents on my dad's side would get an ADHD/AuDHD diagnosis if anyone was looking. I will have been the first in my family to be "counted".

Anecdotal I know, but I feel like prevalence has always been high.

It's church lunch day. To some that will invoke memories of everything-flavour soup or the most random of pot luck/bring-and-share offerings.

Gemini: I am unable to depict images with blood and claw marks.

Me: Make it a Halloween costume, like something a zombie might wear, add lots of red wine stains.

My 5yo's favourite cuddly is a shark from IKEA. Easy to replace should anything happen.

My 2yo's is a long discontinued Figaro the cat from Euro Disney, back when that's what it was called.

Every time he asks "where's Figaro" I have a small panic attack.

The kids' versions of the Old Testament stories miss out on some amazing subplots, and we rarely revisit them as adults.

We looked at a chunk of Genesis in this morning's service, and it's amazing how many people were surprised by details they knew nothing about.

No, data centres don't work like that. Data storage is tiered. Your old emails and photos will be on arrays of mechanical disks that draw absolutely minimal power until somebody requests data which is stored on them - at which point spinning them up uses way more power than if you'd left them alone.

I just want my laptop to sleep, and stay asleep until I wake it up - push the power button, or open the lid.

Not randomly wake up and cook itself in my bag.
Not wake up when I plug it in, or unplug it.
Not to say it's going to sleep, turn off the screen, then stay awake.

Tomorrow's dinner is on. New chimney/smokestack and upgraded fire-basket are doing a great job - even if it did mean grinding metal outside on the hottest day of the year.

Me: how do I book a doctor's appointment for the kids?

Wife: The same way you would for you.

Me: Phone 111, who book an emergency same-day appointment for you because the GP wouldn't take my call?

Wife: 🙄
