I blame Trump and the weak pissants at CBS for cancelling Colbert. Now that is silencing media through comedy. It doesn’t mean we won’t keep laughing at Trump. Colbert will land on his feet somewhere and CBS will lose viewers.

1/ So I’ve wanted to be an astronomer since I was like 12 or so. At that time Voyager 2 was about to encounter Neptune. I have some recollection of Halley’s Comet and the Uranus encounter a few years prior. And in the years post Voyager I grew excited for missions like Galileo and Cassini and HST.

Who did Trump appoint to head NASA after his first nominee fail the Trump test … Real World contestants and current Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy. Because running by NASA really is a part time job?!? Just another joke for science to swallow.

Here we are in the “Find Out Phase.”
Well now that NASA’s not going to have money … what should my next adventure be? It was fun playing scientist but it’s time to move on. Highlight of course was being part of New Horizons. It was a dream come true.

This. I’m so sick of hearing science is going to be cut. What are we doing to ourselves?!? Worse yet, we knew this was coming because project 2025 was the playbook and they are playing it out.

I like to garden. I'm aware of politics (shocker, I know). I'm aware tariffs are a tax. I have seeds from a few sellers (Botanical Interests, Rare Seeds, Burpee, MIGardener) and I know for some of those sellers their seeds are grown locally. But poor HOSS has got hit bad. I guess they FAFO.

@stephaniemiller.bsky.social I need you to issue a correction to something you said on the April 24, 2025 show. As a scientist who was a member of the New Horizons team, the mission that flew past Pluto, it was discovered in 1930, not 1937 as you reported. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Since getting my PhD in 2007, there had been an general growing trend in NASA’s budget, but proposal pressure has always been a 1 in 5 or 10 game. Now the budget might be rolled back to a level around 1985, when I was 8! This is an insane and destructive move.
Cuts to #science of >50% at NASA and >75% at NOAA would end US climate and space science research.
