Tomorrow is the sixteenth anniversary of my Dad's death. In one the universe's nicer moments, a beautiful and thoughtful poem about the joy memories can bring is ABCtales.com Pick of the Day. Thank you to the poet, Makis, for making me smile.
Thoughtful, wistful and delicately expressed: Makis's #poem Afterwards is our Social Media pick of the day. Please could fellow ABC-Talers share it on their social media, if they like it too.

Don't let's gush over the king's transfer of his brother from one posh house to another. Rather, ask why it took so long, why VAWG is still endemic, and why survivors like Virginia Giuffre still have to go through seven shedloads of shit to get their voices heard #VAWG #writing #writingcommunity

This is a piece I wrote some time ago on ABCTales.com, about the shock and grief I felt when my daughter had her first tonic clonic epileptic seizure: tinyurl.com/3sb4mv6y. 12 years later, prejudice around epilepsy still appals me. Please take a moment to read #epilepsyawareness #writing #amwriting

I'm normally a bit Romance-Averse, but the meticulously researched and beautifully written English Garden series is a joy to read. (And honestly, it takes a lot to melt this hardened old heart.) #writing #amwriting #writingcommunity
Hello everyone! Today’s my birthday and if you really WANTED to give me a present, you could buy the first book in my English Garden Romance series which is currently on Amazon at a RIDICULOUSLY low price. Help me enjoy my day, if you would be so kind…

An amazing Pick of the Day from ABC Tales. Worth however long it takes of your time.
Vera Clark's 'Clavicembalo col piane e forte'

Horrific, gripping and as vivid an account of spousal abuse as ever I will read, I'm sure. Very fine writing, indeed, and that's why it's today's Pick of the Day.

"You fantasy/SF writers don't have to do proper research. You just make stuff up." Yes. Of course. Just give me a minute to invent a couple of planets and a Dark Realm, and check they don't share a name with a litigious billionaire's mansion or kid.

After a period of dodgy physical and mental health, finally plucked up the courage to go back to the [expletive deleted] novel. Pleasantly surprised to find it's not QUITE as [expletive deleted] bad as I feared. Onwards and upwards.

Reaching out to the fellow scribbler whose writer's block has reached the point of throwing away the office furniture in despair. I feel your pain. Unless you've landed a big fat contract with a major publisher and can afford to get all new stuff. In which case, well done, no need to gloat.

The title tells you all you need to know: 'There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Engels'. Brilliant comedy from ABCtales writer Turlough.
Today's Pick of the Day, is Turlough's very #funny slice of North Bulgarian life "There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Engels". (Top Marx for the title, BTW).
Do please share it on your social media if you like it too.

Bluesky asked me to verify I'm an adult. They did a face scan. I don't know whether to be glad or sorry they didn't actually tell me what my 'estimated age' is. But apparently I'm an adult. I've often wondered.

Andrea Dworkin pointed out the irony of being told men are women's natural protectors, when they are the biggest danger. Whether women are put on a pedestal or a pyre, it's the same old patriarchy. Men & women are not different species, men are not naturally superior to women.

Just had a message from my publisher at Haywood Books @renardpress.com and they are going print some more copies of Saltburn.

Huge thank you to everyone who has bought it so far and entered this mad little world I have created.
