My perfect NYE includes putting on my pyjamas and not staying up till midnight. Happy New Year to all who celebrate — and also (especially) to all those who, like me, tend not to bother.

Good morning, and many thanks to all my new followers and friends. Not sure how much energy I'll have to properly engage with social media these days, but am willing to give it a go now and then!

Here's a lovely egret we saw on one of our regular walks to the beach here in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight. This area is at the mouth of the River Medina, so we get quite a variety of birds, especially at low tide.

A little bit lonely on here. I would like to follow (and be followed by!) writers, composers, fellow creatives, historians, archaeologists . . . Refugee from the other place. Intensely political (eco-democratic socialist, I guess), but want to avoid it here. Suggestions welcome.
