Something’s off and you feel it too. Not broken. Not crazy. Just… awake to something most people are still sleepwalking through. I spent 30 months trying to make sense of it. I think I finally have. This is the first of 365 posts. One a day. A path through. I think… Come with me if you want. 🙏
The extraction doesn't stay digital. Tech money buys lobbyists. Lobbyists shape regulation. Regulation protects the business model. The business model extracts more wealth. Wealth buys more lobbyists. It's a flywheel. And it spins in one direction: from you to them. Year after year. Accelerating.

There are roughly 2,600 billionaires on earth. Many of them got there by building platforms that extract from billions of people a few dollars at a time. It's not robbery. It's something more elegant. It's a system where paying feels like choosing and losing feels like convenience. That's the genius

43) So who benefits from all this? Follow the money. In 2024, the top five tech companies made over $400 billion in combined profit. Roughly $45 million per hour. That money came from somewhere. It came from your attention, your data, your behavior, and your monthly payments. You funded the machine.

Two weeks into the machine. Here's the hardest part: you can't think clearly about a problem using a brain that's been shaped by the problem. The machine doesn't just steal your attention. It degrades the very brain you'd use to notice it's been stolen. That's not a bug. That's the whole strategy.

You ever pick up your phone to do one thing and thirty minutes later you can't remember what it was? That's not forgetfulness. That's a hijack. The entry point was your intention. The exit point is their engagement metric. Somewhere in between, your agency disappeared. By design. Not by accident.

Kids born after 2010 are the first generation raised entirely inside the machine. Anxiety up 130%. Depression up 150%. Self-harm up dramatically. These aren't weak kids. They're canaries in the coal mine. They're showing us what the machine does to developing brains. And we're still handing it over.

Comparison used to be limited. Your neighborhood. Your school. Your colleagues. Now you compare yourself to 8 billion curated highlight reels. You know it's fake. Doesn't matter. Your limbic system doesn't know the difference between a real threat and an Instagram post. The inadequacy is biological.

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

Loneliness is an epidemic. We're more "connected" than any generation in history. And yet somehow more isolated than ever before. Why? Because every connection is now engineered for quantity not quality. Your brain can't tell the difference at first. But your nervous system knows. It’s screaming.

37) Your attention span is shrinking. Not because you're lazy. Because you're being trained. Every short video, every infinite scroll, every autoplay, its conditioning your brain to expect novelty every few seconds. You're not losing focus. You're being taught to never hold it. There's a difference.

Now that you've seen how the machine works, let's talk about what it's doing to us. Not in theory. In your body. In your relationships. In your ability to think, feel, and connect. The damage isn't dramatic. It's slow. Quiet. Incremental. Like carbon monoxide. You don't notice until you're dizzy.

Week five done. The machine isn't evil. That's what makes it dangerous. There's no villain to defeat. Just an incentive structure doing exactly what incentive structures do: optimizing for metrics. The metric is engagement. And engagement doesn't care if you're informed, happy, or whole. Just hooked

"But I choose what I click on." Do you? When the smartest behavioral scientists alive designed every pixel to exploit cognitive biases you don't even know you have? That's like saying you chose to lose at chess against a supercomputer. The game was over before you sat down. Choice requires awareness
February 7, 2026 at 3:37 PM
The algorithm doesn't show you what's true. It shows you what gets a reaction. Outrage gets six times more engagement than facts. Fear gets more clicks than hope. Division gets more shares than unity. The machine doesn't care about truth. It optimizes for engagement. Truth is just collateral damage.

They hire the smartest people on earth. PhDs in behavioral psychology, neuroscience, machine learning. Not to cure cancer or solve climate change. To figure out exactly which shade of red makes you tap a notification faster. Billions in genius, pointed directly at your dopamine system. Every day…

31) The business model is simple: Keep you on the platform as long as possible. Collect as much data as possible. Sell access to your attention to the highest bidder. That's it. Every feature, every notification, every design choice flows from those three imperatives. You are being farmed. Politely.

Every tech company that's ever gone public has faced the same question from Wall Street: "How do you grow next quarter?" Not next decade. Not sustainably. Next quarter. That single question shapes every product decision you experience. Your feed isn't designed for you. It's designed for earnings.

29) Month two. We're going inside the machine now. Last month I showed you WHAT's happening. The attention harvest, the money drain, the data capture. This month I'll show you HOW it works. WHY it works. And WHO benefits. It's not a conspiracy. It's something worse. It's an incentive structure. 🙏

Four weeks complete. You’ve seen the unease. The attention harvest. The money drain. The data capture. Month one is done. The diagnosis is clear. Something is deeply broken, and it’s not you. Month two starts tomorrow. We go deeper into the machine. Still with me? Good. We’re just getting started.

27) This isn’t paranoia. It’s the documented business model. “Surveillance capitalism” isn’t a conspiracy theory. It’s a term coined by a Harvard Business School professor to describe exactly what’s happening in plain sight. The extraction isn’t hidden. We just normalized it. That’s the trick.

Try deleting your account. Go ahead. Your data doesn’t really disappear. It just stops being visible to you. They keep it indefinitely. For “business purposes.” You gave them permission in paragraph ?? of the terms you never read. Your digital ghost lives on their servers forever. You can’t kill it.
January 30, 2026 at 2:32 PM
“I have nothing to hide.” That’s not the point. The point is you have nothing that’s truly yours. Your digital life exists at their discretion. One terms update and it changes. One policy shift and it’s gone. One hack and it’s exposed. You don’t own your data. You don’t even control access to it.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims.

We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear.

Never again means never again for anyone.
