If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

Burger King just sent me my 2025 recap. I don't want to know how many times I ate Burger King this year. Please keep this information to yourself, BK.
Every other site has tried to roll out a version of 2025 Wrapped, like Spotify. I don't need LinkedIn to tell me what I did on the site this year. To make it worse, that wrap up is only available through its app, which I won't download. Oh well.

I started reading through Hirayasumi after hearing @davidharper.bsky.social talk about it on Off Panel and I absolutely love it. What a charming, fun manga. I'm three volumes in and will likely catch up entirely by the end of the month.

I'm loving the current run of Fantastic Four, but it boggles my mind why Marvel relaunched the series with the same writer in the middle of a big FF-centric event, also by the same writer. I guess to coincide with the movie? Just seems so weird.

I really enjoy the Marvel Infinity Comics, but the timing of their releases can get weird sometimes. For example, the current X-Men one is set during the Age of Revelation event, but none of those comics are on Unlimited yet, so I have no idea what is going on with that series yet.

Making comics is so cool.

I've been on hold w/ my insurance company for 1.5 hours trying to get a prescription filled the way they want me to fill it, but they won't do it and they can't tell me why. This is one of the many reasons we need Universal Healthcare.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

I made out like a bandit at the @madcavestudios.com Black Friday sale. I have read two of these. The rest are books that looked cool or had names I recognized. Excited to dig into these.

I cannot stress enough the importance of voting in your local elections, big or small. I am running for re-election for my local library board and the election will be decided by less than 10 votes. A total of 300 or so were cast. EVERY vote matters!

Today is the day! Polls are open! Please vote YES on the budget and vote for me for Trustee!
I'm running for re-election for the New City Library Board of Trustees! I've greatly enjoyed the past 3 years serving on the board and advocating for the library and all the great things it does for the community.

I get that Tuesday was highlighted as the day to launch for more success on Kickstarter, but getting 5 emails between 10 AM and 10:05 AM about 5 different launches is exhausting. It's now a super crowded time to launch.

Unfortunately I haven't heard back about an extension yet, so I'm still trying to get the cash together to cover this table fee by the 9th!
If I can get a few subscribers to my snail mail club - that'll be a huge help!

It's a really weird feeling right now to be sitting here with THREE comics in production at the same time. 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year with the conclusion of A REAL SLOBBERKNOCKER and the debut of CLEAN UP CREW and FEED THEM TO THE CROWS.

I love the fandom reactions and fire drills that come from big media industry news. Netflix is buying WBD. What does that mean for AEW? DC Comics? Lego Games? Six Flags?

I have never played Marvel Rivals, but I read all the Infinity Comics because @paulallor.bsky.social writes them and they're super fun. Every issue makes me laugh.

Have you ever read something that was so good you got mad about it? That's how I felt when I read Ain't No Grave from Skottie Young and Jorge Corona last week. Such an amazing book. More thoughts in this week's newsletter: jamesfergcomics.substack.com/p/not-the-ki...

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.
