“The government risks feeding further division, dehumanisation and prejudice in our communities. It is the role of the criminal justice system to prosecute individuals, not whole communities.”

This evening, the government broadcast shocking footage of people being taken from detention centres and led - by force - onto deportation flights. One man was even shown being taken on board in restraints.

Join us in telling the government: These are people, not pawns.

Inspections repeatedly reveal that the UK’s detention centres have fundamental failings that deny 1000s of people their rights and do serious damage to their health. Meanwhile, the cost of detention (per person per day) rose 31% since 2017, though more than 50% of people detained are later released.
