This lantern is my god
It provides me with warmth
And light on this night
This freezing cold night
It radiates hope
As I lay on this boat
Coiled on the deck
Like a #fathom of rope
Where are my rescuers?
I must remain stoic
This lantern is my god

Sucked in to the chase
Striving for attention
Digital jet wash
Now your jet's in a fret

Vectors in turmoil
Switch to analogue wings
Find your line, ring your poise
Hear the tone through the #noise

Set loose your focus rockets
And blow up your goal

Draped over the #balustrade, the shimmer of silver lamé mixed with the tearful wailing of a drunken starlet who had missed the mark, though through no fault of her own.
The Academy has lost its senses—or it never had any, cried her agent. Come dear, there's no accounting for taste.

You built me from crushed dreams and flecks of hope you kept hidden under breath

And we rose from #fathoms to freedom

My kindred, you are sun and rain in one

We walked through darkness, never groveling, never thirsting for light

My hope
Has fallen #fathoms
Down into
Deepest sea

If you
Love yourself
It’s best
You do not follow me

Woman once
Tried rescue
Now bad dreams
Won’t let her be

I’m tortured…
And if you’re smart
You will not
Heed my pleas

But when has love
E’er been “smart?”
Bring wine—
I’ll bring the Brie

When someone fights to overcome the torment of their youth, shopping at the hardship #emporium, using every #fathom of lifeline at their grasp, braving the sea spray of negativity amidst churning swells of doom, willing themselves to reach the calm sea of contentment

It's a beautiful thing!

Nigh searched through each dusty shelf but found no sign."Sorry, mama," she whispered, disturbing a swollen-bellied spider in a dim corner, who then scuttled away.

"Ah! Welcome to The #Emporium of Almosts!" a voice pealed. "How about half a cup of tea? Or perhaps... a story with no ending?"

A horse lived in
My neighborhood
Who always
Left home “strapped”

By wearing sharp horn
On his head
In case
He was attacked

Horn came
From an #emporium
That dealt
In magic hacks

Told him
It’d make him unicorn
It don’t
& that’s a fact

So far he has
Impaled a priest
& stabbed me
In the back

Is a unicorn a horse, or is it a case of convergent evolution?

Lion sentries guard the #emporium's entrance, their soft manes betraying strands of stone. They command a second look as I pass; a testament to their fastidious creator: an artisan of few words, I'd predict... I'd hope. A chatty stonemason... Ha!

People saw her living life her own way & she was viewed with pity, as an #outlier of life. They were unaware she had a light within her that was impossible to extinguish, one that guided her to exactly where she was meant to be. A beacon that would lead others home when the darkness came. #vss365
She's absent by day
An outlier in orbit
Introverted alien
Sentry to sapiens
Then, comes the dark
She's free to reflect

Home is a lair, and her vision is dim.
She lives in a bedroom, dependent on him.
An outlier stifled by blankets, she mumbles
a sprechstimme of anguish.
A maladaptive dreamer,
clinging to sculptures of hope.
Dissipation ever close,
she breathes degrees of sorrow
into Judas lungs.

Beware the urge to disregard the #outlier, she who finds the courage to believe and behave with loyalty to her own moral compass over following a crowd, that unique individual who refuses to live in a box of someone else's creation, 𝑠ℎ𝑒 is the one you'd do well to observe.

Mental finesse is required
If one lives as an #outlier
To this I can attest
Given the stress
I’ve felt from ire
As my feet were pressed
To the fires
Of others’ desires
And the wants they project
Like how my presence’s “required”
Not my solitude nor rest…

The #outlier risks to the #degree desired or inherent. The #hawk does not choose its talons. We are expert in our denial, yet Life courses with blood, and enmity goes for that which instinct rejects. The trophy head drips in time to the songs of the native hoard. #vss365 #vsspoem #vssdaily

As he traced each line on the screen, the #contours of her face came to life, soft and precise, as if love guided his hand.
It was not just a drawing but his way of bringing her back, sculpting her memory with every stroke.

I trace the fading #contours of empire, thinking of Julian the Apostate, his hands scraping at Constantine’s mark, trying to cleanse what time had set. Had he won, would Apollo’s light still burn? Or was the wheel already turning, too heavy with the weight of the cross? #vss365 #Rome #History

An echo. A ghost. A story left behind. I graze my hand along the memories. Flinch as I feel the skin peel and burn. Tears fall. Blood blossoms. I swallow hard. As I walk through the contours of this moment. Fresh like it was a minute ago. Rotting through the years. #vss365
