Interesting! The article found significant positive effect of union density on wage increase among the lower half earners during the inter-war era (1920s-30s). Simply: Unions effectively compressed the income structure in the population. Opposite the increasing income gap we see today.

I have long said that the way forward, really the ONLY way forward when, size of population relative to the ever decreasing workforce demand is to do what has been done several times before. Reduce work hours / days per week.

The guard rails against abuse of power by officials, such as POTUS, put into place after Nixon's - do people even remember him!? - abuse of power in the 1970s. They are called Inspector Generals. Trump broke the law by firing them. And he gets away with it.
