National Literacy Institute: 21% of adults in the US were illiterate as of 2024. 54% of US adults have a literacy below a 6th-grade level (20% are below 5th-grade level). Worldwide the US ranks 36th in literacy. This is horrifying. It also explains a lot.

Watching the Knicks defense allow Tatum to go full court in four dribbles and yam one play -> to then completely smothering Tatum on the last play of the game the next… convinces me that was more of an offensive screw up than great defense

Weather and climate research funds are being “chainsawed” from NOAA's budget. Last I checked, Louisiana & Florida, which are maximally susceptible to Hurricanes, voted Red in the last General Election.

A lot of times people put me on lists of "actually good male role models" which always makes me a little uncomfortable because very little of what I do speaks to the insecurity and fear young men have and sometimes I feel pretty guilty about that.
