Last weekend I combined book research with play and lucked out on both sides! The home debut of the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s women’s ice hockey team was fast and fiercely played. And one of their players matched a character I'd created 3 years ago!

Some kind soul absolutely *stuffed* our #StreetLibrary with so many books that you couldn't get at things. I did a little curating to make access easier. (The extras will go back in later.)

I'd read Becky Chambers 2nd Wayfarers book--A CLOSED AND COMMON ORBIT--a while ago but didn't take to it. (I was still missing the sweet characters in Bk 1 🥰.) This time around, I'm finding it rich & interesting. She has a few writerly hitches that distract, but it's quite good for all that.

Didn't, don't & won't. Nor will I work with anyone who does or promote their work. My entire professional & creative career has been based on critical thinking, original thinking, & respecting the same of others.
Hands up if you've never used Chat GPT ✋

(I feel like Dozer and Tank in The Matrix right now - at first I didn't use it because, rather ironically, I'm lazy and stubborn (peak Taurus energy there) - literally no, don't make me use the new thing I don't wanna. Now I'm glad I didn't 😅)
Probably a good way to tell right now if the job you’re applying for is run by absolute dumbfucks is to ask if they’re using AI.

For those of you who read large print books, of the 2 samples here (both are in 16 pt font), would you still be comfortable with the narrower line spacing of the page on the left? Thx!

These 3 reference books have been super useful for me as I've worked with my #CoverArtist & worked out other practical & legal aspects of my #SelfPublishing project.

Reading 3 books concurrently & nearing the end of each. Do not want any of them to end! All are re-reads. Guess I know what happens next.

The flip side of this is the male author who was asked about his writing routine, and who talked about how much he loved the feeling that he could close his door and then “the day is completely yours” to focus on writing. He had, at the time, two young children… and, of course, a wife

Made the tough decision to post a notice on our #StreetLibrary asking folks not leave foodstuffs. Suggested they donate to our local Hunger Taskforce who can make a larger difference. (We'll take the several cans of beans & dry soups to our grocery store's food bin.)

CS Lewis: No one who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.

Right up there with A. Bartlett Giamatti's essay "The Green Fields of the Mind" (Yale Alumni Magazine. Nov 1977) that includes this: "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart."

Ok! Educate those young men abt affirmative consent & safer sex. Make abortion & contraception free & available everywhere. Enforce sexual assault laws actually. Create media that cultivates sex positive respect & care for everyone. Get ppl who don’t suck in office.

Culture change is possible!!
I am not in any way disagreeing with you Rabbi. However with the huge number of sexless young men 18-30 is creating a social hazard.

We need to get gender relationships fixed or we'll suffer from a lot of troubles later on.

I was an archivist for a bit, an academic librarian for a bit, & a professor who taught new librarians for yet another bit. So I know the theory & need for occasionally weeding books. But it still gives me a gut punch to see this sort of stamp on a used book when I buy it.
