It infuriates me that I had to do this. Velvet Rasputin LLC became what I wanted it to be: an alternative ed avenue to teach queer folks about threats against them, and to educate the public about systems of oppression. Sadly, the comics that started it all need to be rebranded to protect it. UGH! 😣

I think every native English speaker who gets to do academia in easy mode should have to write at least one paper in a foreign language they don’t know so that they can have a little empathy when reviewing papers written in ESL

Nerd-stuff aside, you can get really fun and evocative with SFX in a way I think doesn't excite some folks as much as it COULD 🥺

Lettering, *in the webcomics space* ***sometimes***.

I feel like… (it depends, and a lot of web cartoonists are always stacking hats) lettering can just be like "ok words in the text-box GO!" for some people.

Maybe it's my graphic design background, but even with dialogue there are nuances—

Bust shot, colored sketch commission of the character Exsedol from Macross. SPOILERS (I guess): he's dressed in his post-war UN Spacy uniform, smiling to the viewer. You're not sure what he's thinking, though. There's some gradient shadows behind him.
