One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.
i mean, the president's executive order isn't a goddamn law! as far as this doctor is concerned, who cares what the president says!

Forget groundhogs, I think the 2nd of February would be better as Salamander Day. Over the next six weeks (whether they be more like spring or winter) many species will make the incredible journey to their breeding grounds. What a beautiful symbol of resurrection and resilience. Happy #Imbolc!

There will be a new world order (for better or for worse) on the other side of this. We will win this by fighting FOR what we want to be the new norms. It’s not enough to dismantle hatred and authoritarianism, we have to rebuild better.
