Whilst my mother was in hospital towards the end of her life in 1982/83 i used to commute from Telford to Wolverhampton with my brother Michael. I’d be dropped off, eat breakfast at home and then walk to school. At school day’s end I walked home to a cold house and then driven back to Telford.

Apparently the early morning noise was in fact some form of chainsaw cavalcade as the neighbours in the next street are having their garden re-landscaped. Just what we need to be surrounded by. Ignorant waterboard and ignorant contractors.

The sound of our first Christmas without dad who died earlier in the year. We were invaded by family and it felt false and forced. I was 10 that Christmas and only 9 when dad died.
"Mull of Kintyre" was at No. 1 on 5 Dec 1977. It was written by Paul McCartney & Denny Laine in tribute to the Kintyre peninsula and its headland, the Mull of Kintyre. It was Wings' biggest hit & is one of the best selling singles of all time in the UK. #PaulMcCartney #RIPDenny

Day 4 of roadworks. They have continued into the street behind us and tarmac cutters instead of heavy drills punctuate the mornings dawn chorus like a couple of angry giant wasps. Apart from the unexpected visit from the gas board who were convinced the water board had cut us off, all’s quiet ish.

Burst water main up the road. I suspect no sleep tonight as more and more equipment arrives.

See no evil, hear no evil 1989. Not brilliant but not terrible. A view, be it terrible or not, of a world we’re not used to by two great actors

A day skirting around the smoke yesterday in Ware, Heathrow, Old Windsor and a drive past Runnymede and the Thames. All for a 3 hr chat with @csmaccath.com which was well worth it.

It’s 1986. I’m standing in a record warehouse in my first job earning £1.10 an hour picking records, looking at a copy of Magnum’s 12 inch of Just like an Arrow. Very vivid memory. #musicmemory

Weekends blur into work days with the studio rehash. But it continues apace. #studio #caudapavonis

Studio rehash continues now the injuries to my hands seem to have healed. Piles of stuff that doesn’t belong in here being shifted either into recyke, reuse, repurpose or rubbish. #studio #caudapavonis

I must have discovered Adan and the Ants back in the 1980s, maybe even late 70s as I was very much a music lover and listened to loads. This was released and delivered today. At some point I’ll break the cellophane just like I did on my copy of kings back in 1980. #Adamandtheants #greatmusic

Hospital waiting rooms can be an oasis of disconnection. Everybody is here for a reason, although not me on this occasion. I’m just the escort. Hail to the hipster with mid ankle short trousers and purposefully mismatched socks in his crocks and the Costa drinking dregs of post morning society.

After 10 years in QA Management, 30 in IT, I’ve finally taken the ISTQB Advanced Management Course and exam; whilst almost simultaneously solving a problem at work. Every damn time in trying to learn something someone buggers up and I have to pick up the mess. #work #learning #worklifebalance

Day 4 of my birthday weekend sees me taking an unprecedented extra day off. Possibly, just for a change, not going to do anything but relax and ignore the wider world and possibly the local one as well. Just, you understand, for a change. I give myself 10 minutes before that collapses. #wellbeing

Day of days +1. Day #1 of clearing the garden with @jackdawlady.bsky.social . Her choice of plants has given us so much colour but now is time to plant bulbs for spring and do one of the last weeding for the cottage garden. More to do tomorrow. #gardening #gardeningwainwright

And so to a final end to my day of days I get Red Sun as a final recommendation. I am probably not the one for ‘can you do that again, Almost Certainly!’ applies but it will always make me think of my Sensei.

Ending the day with a time travel movie. A b movie with a, so far, salient plot. Showdown in Yesteryear.

A day of no plans turned into an impromptu trip into Glastonbury and a tour of some of the roads of Somerset due to road works, lots of roadworks. 5 on the way to Wells and then a major diversion which ended with a further 1 at the destination. Dinner in the G&P and a visit to the new #wyrdraven.
