Flash Communication: Strained and Bimetallic Structures of Rhodium and Iridium Germyl Complexes with Phosphinoamido Ligands
In the coordination chemistry of heavier tetrylenes (:ER2, where E = Si, Ge, Sn, Pb), chelating P,N-donor ligands occupy a privileged position, though phosphinoamido ligands, [R2P–NR′]−, have been bar...

QUESTION TO THE COMMUNITY: Since COVID it is very difficult to get GOOD (STRONG) glovebox gloves. And they are very expensive! Any tips where to get normally priced good gloves? You can also direct-mail me: sjoerd.harder@fau.de Thanks for your advice!

After some time, Annika's work on the first open-shell metallo-tetrylene is out 🥳 And it got the @chemicalscience.rsc.org
#PickoftheWeek stamp of approval, congrats Anni!🎖️

Great collab with Max Holthausen, (Frankfurt) 🖥️

Best thing here is the mechanism, so check it out:

A Ca(I) synthon with bridging N2 is key to the synthesis of homometallic Ca peroxide and oxide complexes. In solution, the Ca oxide complex decomposes even at -80 C. It can only be prepared in the solid state. @ChemCommun @RoySocChem shorturl.at/AUoWM

Just unacceptable!

3 years after it was launched, the journal ChemistryEurope, created to be the flag journal of @chemistryeurope.bsky.social‬, is not yet indexed by Scopus (Elsevier) or Web of Science (Clarivate). A search in these databases will never find articles published in ChemistryEurope.

Remarkable advance in basic chemistry: Researchers have created hexanitrogen, six bound nitrogen atoms. It's the most energetic molecule ever made!

If it can be made & stored in bulk (big if) it could be a powerful rocket fuel or energy storage material. 🧪

LOW-VALENT Si, Ge, Sn, Pb: HOW LOW CAN WE GO???
Hydrocarbon-soluble Mg(0) reduces Si all the way to Si(4-). Unfortunately not stable and decomposing to the HSi(3-) anion. However, Sn(4-) is stable and functions as 4-fold Nu or 8e reducing agent. Preprint: shorturl.at/4mH0O

In the past three years, well over 100 journals have been delisted by Clarivate. They will no longer have their papers indexed, their citations counted, or be given an impact factor. Nandita Quaderi, senior vice president, explains what triggered the organisation to step up screening processes.
How Clarivate is clamping down on bad actors in academic publishing

Good for John Hartwig. He is of course correct, and it’s important to say these things loudly and clearly, both abroad and in the US.

The ACS has deleted its website on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Respect. And with that move, have shown they are worthy of none of the latter.
People ask why no-one stands up to fascists, this is why - they are too worried about their own standing to challenge it.
