EU:n komissio esittää Suomelle sopeutusvaateen (nettosopeutusta menoleikkauksin ja veronkorotuksin), joka on 1,5-kertainen siihen nähden, mihin Orpon hallitus kaudellaan kykeni. Tämä on kuitenkin paljon maltillisempi sopeutus, kuin mitä VM on laskelmissaan tarjoillut.

Orpon hallituksen perintö käy hyvin ilmi tästä Euroopan komission sopeutusvaatimuksesta. Seuraavalle hallitukselle ei olisi tullut käytännössä ollenkaan sopeutusta ilman Orpon hallituksen päätöksiä. Nyt sopeutustaakkaa tulossa ~0,5 % BKT:stä eli n. 1,5 mrd e/v. eli hallituskaudella n. 6 mrd e.
