Reposting as I had a typo in a # The much ignored and underrated Green Finch for #birdoftheday #underrated #photography #wildlife

The most common bird on here seems to be the Heron, I've never seen so many picture of Herons.

Buzzard carrying dinner back to the nest for #birdoftheday and #worst as it's quite tragic really for the poor little rabbit 😱
Taken in Scotland and heavily cropped even though I was using a 600mm lens.

Grey squirrel caught in late afternoon autumn sunshine trying to hide in amongst the branches of our walnut tree. Plump and either pregnant or feeding kits.
Nikon D3S ISO 3200 as the light was low but the brief sunshine gave me a shutter speed of 1/5000 at F4.

Deserted Scottish beach at sunset in 2010, the Isles of Eigg and Rum in the distance.
Pristine sand, not a mark on it, which is remarkable considering I was with 2 dogs.
Nikon D700 & 20mm @ f18 1/8th second and I must have used a tripod.

Diving Red Kite, taken in Scotland about 10 years ago, hand held 600mm. It was taken at a feeding station and is one of a few decent shots from around 400 frames! They're fast and difficult to track but the light saved me in the end.

Different subject, Highland Cows (or Coos) but still ginger. They were completely focussed on our dogs that my partner had on their leads quite a way behind me so I was able to get quite close without stressing them.
Nikon D300 & Nikon 20-35mm lens.

Red Squirrel, Scottish Highlands 2016
This one has a magnificent tail and I managed to get it all in the frame.
Just put some food out, they'll show up, eventually.

Did you watch The Hack? I can't believe papers have gotten away with destroying lives for so long. That's why I've signed the petition, set up by Hugh Grant and other phone hacking victims, to demand fair, independent regulation. Join me: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/a-...
A Free Press, Not a Free Pass – It's Time for Fair Regulation
For too long, the UK press have bullied people, harassed grieving families, and destroyed lives, all to sell papers. We’ve all seen the heartbreaking consequences. They’ve hacked phones, listened to ...

Chicken picture - full length this time. I believe the breed is Booted Bantam due to the feathery legs. We had about a dozen, they bred and we had chicks. Sadly all gone now but they all lived to a grand old age.

Birds are incredibly clever and photogenic.
Nikon D700 and Sigma EX 300mm F2.8 + 2X converter
(the Exif says 1600mm focal length but the Sigma tells lies when it's on a matched 2X converter for some reason?)

Closeup of a dragonfly, one of my favourites.
Nikon D700 and Tamron 90mm Macro Lens. A very sharp little lens but as always in photography, the light is the first and probably the most important step.
