A very shy bird. Yesterday I spent three hours trying to capture a few winter photos along the half‑frozen Bystřice creek. The good news is that I spotted at least four dippers along a five‑kilometre stretch of the river.

This winter, our garden looks like a sparrow convention. Perhaps the combination of leftover food from the homestead and a well-stocked feeder for the second winter in a row has triggered a sparrow baby boom.
