President Trump’s HUD has gutted fair housing protections, rolling back regulations, cutting grants, and firing staff who enforced the Fair Housing Act.

Our elders bled for protections for people of color, people with disabilities, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and LGBTQ+ folks.

Yesterday was the U.S. House Appropriations Committee mark-up of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development FY26 spending bill. Though an amendment was offered to restore funding to fair housing, the amendment failed to pass.

The Republican funding bill for the Department of Housing and Urban Development cuts funding for civil rights enforcement by 67%.
