1st official flash - didn’t use a flash but should’ve. Spent the evening celebrating the power of thinking differently with Dr. Temple Grandin.
Challenging the way things are and pushing limits. A reminder that there’s no single way to see the world. #ThinkingDifferently #TempleGrandin #anopendoor

Dolmage 2017 reminds us: “Barriers are built—not accidentally, but purposefully—reinforcing inequities & marginalizing disabled people.”
Systemic ableism is woven into how our society is built. Accessibility features aren’t extra or just for a few. They’re essential. They create a world of belonging
"Using a mobility aid is not “giving up.“

Using a shower bench is not “lazy.”

Using a ramp is not for “disabled people only.”

Normalizing and not shaming people for using accessibility features reduces the stigma surrounding them. "- Misa on Wheels

From a selfish standpoint, you may as well start caring about access and accommodations now, as you'll likely benefit from it at some point in the future if you don't already.
The cost of access and accommodation for disabled people does not mean that disabled people are a burden.
It means that the costs of discrimination against and exclusion of disabled people by others require efforts to tear down these unjust barriers.
