The crew onboard the ZES Pilot, a Finnish-owned cargo ship, are abandoned in the Netherlands. They are owed thousands of euros in unpaid wages.

The ITF is supporting the crew and working with authorities to ensure that the crew are paid what they are owed.

Indian seafarers, Padmamurti and Alam, were abandoned in an Iran port with no money, no passports and no change of clothes. Padmamurti had lost his leg in an accident onboard.

Their story is one example of seafarer abandonment as cases surge to record highs in 2025
