Let’s all try to be excellent to each other here.
“He said that though the cycle route would increase in terms of distance, much of this would be downhill so it would not be a huge addition to journey time”

It’s a very handy cycle lane if it’s downhill in both directions.

Of our Heads of Government, we have had 2 Welsh surnames (Griffith, Harris), 1 French (Lemass), 1 Spanish (de Valera), 1 Norman (FitzGerald), 1 Viking (Reynolds), 2 English (Bruton, Brugha [Burgess]), 1 Indian (Varadkar) and 1 Indeterminable (Martin). Now tell me immigration is new.

www.rte.ie/news/2025/11... I have somewhat limited sympathy. Book a bargain holiday in Jamaica because it’s cheap in hurricane season and expect others to bail you out when the risk doesn’t work. I do hope the type 1 diabetes thing is OK but have more sympathy for the average Jamaican.
'Nobody is helping us' - Irish couple stuck in Jamaica
An Irish couple who were holidaying in Jamaica when Hurricane Melissa hit the country last week said they are finding it very hard to get home.

They were on 28% at the same stage in the electoral cycle between the last two elections. It set them up for a magnificent victory. I.e Polls at this stage have marginal use for political strategists and non for the general populace.

I presume there will be extra rolling stock added, either to provide a more frequent service south of Broombridge or to have longer trams. Otherwise there will be overcrowding in the centre of Dublin.

I’m sure it’s been looked at

They must have considers it…

We need to look at making it easier to vote. We have a 50% turnout in this house as one voter is out of the country. We allow prisoners postal votes but not ordinary citizens. At minimum there should be a chance to vote early in a city/county hall before voting in local polling stations on the day

I remember during the Brexit canpaign when those opposed were accused of running a canpaign of fear.

The British electorate ignored the warnings.

It all worked out beautifully.

There are many countries in Africa and South America who can attest that disaster lies in that direction.

Catherine Connolly will end in disillusionment for her supporters. Either she’ll behave like a President is supposed to and they’ll complain she isn’t speaking out, or she will speak out and won’t last a term as President.

Clearly from the nature of their campaigning, both Connolly and Humphreys have decided that this is going to be a low turnout election and the challenge is to get out the base to actually visit a polling station rather than win over the undecided.

While I believe the government should spend efficiently, let’s not lose sight that €100k would get you approximately 4 car parking spaces between construction cost and land costs (and that’s not even taking into account an access road for them.

It’s hard to imagine her as President not finding herself in a thundering disgrace position.

Germany’s decision on what to do as a response to Russia’s aggression is theirs to choose and really should be off the table for someone who sees themself in the Irish Presidency.

Is she going to promise a second bridge from Great Island to the mainland in case the Fota Rd is closed.

I’m not sure that’s in the President’s remit.

The Gaza flotilla is a real exercise in self-aggrandisement. If it was seriously aiming to help Gaza it would be leaving from Crete, Cyprus or Southern Turkey. But Barcelona is much better for publicity for those onboard.

For those unaware, Trump bought Mar a Lago for $10m in 1985. In 2008 while in financial difficulty he sold it to a Russian oligarch called Dmitriy Rybolovlev for $95m while retaining a lifetime right to live there. In 2014 Rybolovlev sold it back to him for $18m.

There is nothing at all suspicious
