I'm pretty clear eyed in the ways the US suck not least because they invaded my parents' country and had a big hand in destabilizing it which is why I live in the US in the first place.
But it is exhausting talking to Canadians, Australians and Europeans whose only use for the US is as a foil

I like to imagine I summoned the Animal Crossing update when I told one of my friends that if this book took place in the real world, August would play NH and run that island like the navy
