🧵 In the latest attack on southeast Iowa’s working class, multibillion-dollar transnational corporation Case New Holland (CNH) is threatening to devastate the blue-collar community of Burlington, Iowa, by closing a nearly century-old plant.

Closing Case in Burlington wouldn't just hurt the @uaw.org workers and their families, it would cause a ripple effect that would destroy small businesses, local economies and any potential growth in the area for years! #KeepCaseInBurlington

@iowaaflcio.bsky.social President Charlie Wishman is right: the big ugly bill’s cuts to health care and food assistance will be devastating for working families.

On the #BetterInAUnion bus tour, workers nationwide are standing up and fighting back ✊

Congress voted to pass the largest job-killing bill in history.

Congress voted to take away health care from 17 million people to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

Congress voted to take away food assistance from 3 million people.

Congress voted to betray working people.

Senator Joni Ernst wants to cut health insurance for millions of Americans so billionaires can get more.

Let Sen Ernst know this is unacceptable! Call today and tell her: No cuts to Medicaid!

Iowa families deserve better!
16 MILLION people would lose their health insurance thanks to cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act in the Senate’s budget bill.

Working people see right through this budget’s BS. America’s unions won’t accept health care cuts so billionaires can get another tax break.

Governor Kim Reynolds signed a bill earlier this month that will turn worker protection benefits into a tax break for corporations. Under this scheme, “Big Business” will profit, while workers suffer. Iowa companies have laid off thousands of workers this year despite corporate profits!

Make no mistake: whether you use Medicaid or not, you will feel the impacts of cuts to the program. The budget bill the Senate is considering right now would kick 16 MILLION people off their health insurance, & health care costs could go up by up to $485 per year for most people.

What's in the Trump/GOP big, beautiful bill?

-Tax cuts skewed to the rich
-Medicaid & SNAP cuts
-Ends IRS Direct File
-New powers for Trump over the courts
-Blocks state/local regulation against AI, including rent-gouging software like RealPage

It's a big, ugly nightmare.
