Script excerpt from the massively branching, dark fantasy and horror visual novel Catalyst: Blind Faith, taken from Chapter 65: The Master of Webs. The text is backed by the game's logo: a bleeding, branching mote of fire, held in two outstretched hands. You are no stranger to torture and death—but you do not look up at Malimos with judgment or hypocrisy. You are genuinely bewildered as you ask, "Why have you never tried to kill me?" A pensive look crosses Malimos's colossal features. A glint is in his many eyes. "Would you believe me if I said it is because I see you as a friend?" You gawk. "Really?" He bursts into laughter. "Most certainly! You are so devastatingly earnest. You have only once tried to take my life—which is an infinitely better record than anyone else I have ever met. It would be a downright shame to kill you." You mumble, "I see." "Oh, don't look so dour! My dearest Richard. Did I not let you live from the very first moments I laid my many eyes upon you?"
