Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Big moment for Europe: in December, fully electric cars outsold petrol-only cars in the EU for the first time.

This shows that clear, consistent policy works. Which is exactly why backtracking now would be a mistake. Rolling back targets or creating uncertainty would slow investment and innovation.

Cannot reccomend this strongly enough. For me personally so many elements of fascism whenever it emerges in the world seem to have a seed in the fossil fuel economy, the outrageous lies of climate denial.

Fighting against fossil fuels = fighting against the tools of fascism.
Wrote myself a pep talk to get back to work tomorrow. It helped me. Hope it helps you.
I don't know how to do this
But I'm going to keep doing it anyway.

There is so much of this out there in climate comms world and I have never hated it as much as I hate it now

It's circular and self-reinforcing: people don't care about it partly because now even so many climate advocates have been bullied into not mentioning it. But passivity is so wrong right now
I'm sure there is some strategic climate comms analysis somewhere that says people don't want to hear about climate change bc it turns them off, it's polarising, it's political etc so be "pragmatic" and just "get on with it." "Go along to get along", is deeply Australian.

The heatwave in Australia is beyond belief. And it's caused by people making decisions to burn coal, oil and gas when there's so many other options available.

If you are wondering why the mass public views aren't included - it's because everyone still cares about this issue, even if these people don't

China is now the leading clean energy powerhouse with the West falling behind.

The transition is inevitable; the key question is where and how fast it happens.

I look forward to discussing this in Davos next week at the World Economic Forum, facilitating a live-streamed session on electrostates.

Compare also to Ireland:

Bears 0
Wolves 0
Lynx 0
Wild boar 0
Beavers 0

There aren't even any plans to *consider* (re)introducing any of these species. What a joke.
Slovenia is smaller and more densely populated than Scotland. But despite its small size and relatively populous countryside, it's home to nearly 1,000 brown bears, over 120 wolves and a growing population of around 50 reintroduced lynx.

When I wrote a book about oil train regulations I got to see how regulations were made.

So none of the info in this document about the EU methane regulations surprises me but if the oil and gas companies are in on closed door meetings with regulators, it's unlikely we get real regs.
The EU recently announced new details on their approach to figuring out how to import US LNG that complies with their regulatory limits for methane emissions. Our team spent the week putting together this overview. We have little confidence the proposed solutions will deliver the promised results.

“Climate action” is just another way to say “we want our beautiful complex planet to continue to be a good place to live, and to continue to be both beautiful and complex”. So much climate damage comes from assuming that Earth is simple, that it is easy to control and that it will bend to our will.

Today is the deadline to release the Epstein files. The DOJ is refusing to comply.

This is about justice for survivors and holding participants and co-conspirators accountable.

The Epstein Files Act is the law, not a suggestion.

Release the files. Immediately.
