A podcast for the curious, candid, and creatively unhinged. Writing, reading, world-building, & the weird emotional terrain between author and audience—with sardonic wit, philosophical detours, and no patience for genre clichés.
I do not want this channel to be political in any way, unless the book or author I am talking about or featuring happens to write along those lines. That being said, it is getting harder and harder for me not to be pissed off at what is happening.

I watched "The Dressmaker" last night... I was not wanting to watch it, it really did not seem interesting to me. My wife turned it on and I got caught up in it and liked it.

Now I have to read the book.

Often, because of my knowledge and experience of things that are "Out of my time", I question the year of my birth.

1968, so it is rumored, but when I think of all the things I remember, and all the experiences I have had, I wonder, sometimes, if maybe I am older. If not physically, mentally.

Anyone here ever take part in Podcasthon? I received and email from them and am thinking about taking part in it. Wanted some opinions from others.

If I do, I would be supporting PEN America as my charity.

I will rarely chime in on politics here. I abhor it.

But my biggest fear, right now, is that at some point, people are going to get fed up and the peaceful protests against ICE are going to change and some group is going to show up with more guns than ICE has.

That would be unfortunate for all.

Day Three of my Five Day Fast...

No longer hungry. That seems so strange. But my coworkers are commenting on the unusual sounds my stomach is making.

Am I the only one that feels guilty when I take a sick day, and sends an apology to my three coworkers?

Wetlands filter water naturally—removing pollutants through plants & microbes, no chemicals needed. We bulldoze them for development, then build expensive treatment plants. Humility means restoring what works. #Ecology #Wetlands

Always interesting to see what is trending on BSKY... but "General Hospital"? Really?

The last time I watched that show was the year Reagan was shot... I remember they interrupted the show.

A co-worker told me they were working on a book they had, tentatively, titled, "Morning Would, or Would Knot."

I am intrigued, even though they would not (or knot?) tell me anything about what it was about.

Sometimes the "Old Remedies" are the best.

I get migraines... I have since I was about twelve. But most of the newer treatments just don't work for me. You know what does?

Codeine. One pill of T-3.

It's old-school but works great, and nowadays is harder and harder to get a prescription for.

This last Saturday I sort of reneged on my efforts.

Instead of trying out a new coffee shop, I returned to Bakersfield Roasting Company and spent the time writing on a story I have been working on for a while.

I really like this place.

I am always interested in trying something that might make me a little money on the side, and have been using DScout.

Anyone else use that?

I have made enough to pay off a couple of my holiday credit cards and am enjoying using it.

Question:

As a New Writer, do you consider yourself a "Published Author" when you self-publish to services like Amazon KDP?

As a Veteran Writer, do you consider people who have published to Amazon KDP "Published Authors"?

Not trying to stir up drama, just curious about how one feels for the other

Do you consider listening to audiobooks the same as reading a book, or do you think one is better than the other?

I know different people respond differently to them, but what is your opinion? Do you get the same amount out of an audiobook, as a listener, as you would a physical book?

I am starting to think that maybe the best thing that could happen to humanity right now would be a good ol'-fashioned alien invasion.
