No game has me torn like Marathon: I want to play inside the world they’ve build with that gunplay and gorgeous art direction, but I really, *really* don’t wanna bash my head against pvp to do it.

There's this company I preordered a thing from almost 2 years ago, and months after it shipped for everyone else all I have are many emails from their (very pleasant!) customer support reassuring me that mine will ship by [insert date], and then it just... doesn't.

Soulframe has been great so far cause every other day I’ll ask the friend who introduced me to it a seemingly innocuous question and get a lecture in how the game works as a response, and I remember just how fun it is diving headfirst into an MMO

so, 2025. many, many more downs than ups, but I don't want to take even the smallest ups for granted. playing games that moved me, hanging out with friends, learning game design from some awesome devs, and starting a new job after a seemingly neverending hunt. next year is looking (a bit) brighter.

yeah so Skate Story fucking rules.
Finally sat down with the demo for Skate Story and man this shit is gonna slip into my top 10 list so easily if the full game is as cool as the 45 minutes I just played.

Kojima really gets it, cause usually I know I'm playing a good game at some point before the credits roll. But the best ones approach on their own terms, frustrate me, and then refuse to leave my brain until I realize I love them.
Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.
