If you love #newtheatre, head to @waterlooeast.bsky.social for @cantkillthespirit.bsky.social, a brand new play about the power of protest + family ties.

I'm 100% biased as my dad wrote it and my mum's in it, but it's GREAT 💫

A thread in which I try to show some of the harmful practical effects on the quality of its analysis of the Supreme Court's appalling and delegitimating decision to exclude all trans voices from a judgment with profound effects on trans people's lives.
Having excluded all trans people from proceedings before it, the Supreme Court decides in favour of For Some Women Scotland.

it was an internet contagion, they said...I let myself wonder...her withdrawal into an online world full of trolls was an explanation I entertained. Peter disagreed...puberty must have felt like such a threat, he countered. If she’d found people online to help her...we should be glad.

“Waitlist times are systematically downplayed – but 20 years isn’t a waitlist, it’s a holding cell, a torture chamber. It’s inhumane, and it breaks people. Alice tried so hard to live; she moved out, ...

Whilst I'm proud today marks the official publication of #HerNameIsAlice I'll spend much of the day thinking if only I hadn't had to write it, remembering my beautiful daughter and wishing with all my heart she was still here and that there was no book.

A huge thank you to those who’ve given the book such a warm reception. I’m very proud of it. Share it with your cis friends and family: the allies, those with ‘reasonable concerns’ and the out and out terfs. Dare them to read HER NAME IS ALICE and not question their prejudices, their indifference.

i met Caroline Litman at Trans+ Pride London in 2022 and took her picture, along with her daughter, Kate. reading HER NAME IS ALICE made me cry just as much as i did then. a must-read for those curious about trans people and those who love us, beyond the sensationalist media headlines.

Two days after Streeting bans puberty blockers for gender dysphoria, #HerNameIsAlice goes to print.

Topical, beautiful + important, it portrays the real impact of inadequate trans healthcare. I couldn't be prouder of @alicemydaughter.bsky.social

Please read + share lnk.to/HerNameIsAlice

BREAKING

On the day the UK government announces a permanent puberty blocker ban I learn:

ALICE’S DATA WAS NOT INCLUDED in data sent to Appleby to assess for his rushed DHSC report, that dismissed whistleblower claims of increased suicides in trans youth since Bell.

The report is a proven sham.
