My mom died around Xmas a couple of years ago. She was active in my parents' church since she married my dad and lived her faith. Her last minister was only there for a few years but they became close. He wrote about her in a weekly newspaper in a town he has since moved to. 1/

We went to see Marty Supreme at the local independent theater today. About 2/3 of the way through I was thinking "last month we saw One Battle After Another here, and now we're watching One Fucking Thing After Another." And yet, by the end I have to say I liked it. Probably best seen in a theater.

I sometimes think my wife wanted to move from Japan just to avoid having to compose letters, New Years cards, emails, etc. There is a vast difference in the time and mental commitment between us when we write these communications in our respective languages.

Our son went down to Boston to see a friend, so we sent him on a side quest to get gobō. Wife made mochi and that daikon/carrot namasu dish today. It's beginning to look a lot like New Years.

I'm more of a Mitoma Kaoru fan than BHA fan, so while I enjoy Brighton's games, it's been a disappointing season so far. But ultimately I'm an Arsenal follower, so his absence today makes it easier to watch.
