As is now tradition, I went to the Kamen Rider Store on New Year’s Day, when they debut a bunch of new merchandise. It’s mostly the Reiwa Riders, but there is a limited-time tote bag with the Showa guys’ logos (and inside, a T-shirt with the Heisei footprints and jumbo badge with Zeztz and Nox).

After the Final Fantasy IX limited menu ended I thought I was done with the Squeenix cafe for a while.
But no, they figured out the one other thing that would get me back there without hesitation: a limited menu based on the first 6 games.

Today back in 2011 one of the still-greatest Kamen Rider movies ever (in my Top 5, and Top 3 if we specify from the 21st century) came out. I wouldn’t see it in a theater until years later for a revival festival, but I watched it enough times on the small screen to almost remember it scene-by-scene.

The Magic Drink comes in 3 flavors, Fire (strawberry and cranberry) Blizzard (lychee) or Thunder (salted mandarin). The Black Mages have 3 sauces to match (salsa, cheese and blue-dyed tartar sauce).

This was difficult to write; if I had my druthers, it would've come out last year, but I struggled with revisiting this period of my life that intently, or with organizing things in a way that didn't feel navel-gazey or self-pitying.

Went to the Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Exhibition, took something like 500 pictures and spent way too much on commemorative junk.
Loved it. 10/10 would go again.

November is here and Squeenix changed up the menu at the cafe. They also have different coasters and placemats now, so once again the quest is on to try and get everything related to my favorite dragoon. And to ultimately try everything on the menu because at this point, why not?

As awful as the whole situation is, it was pretty surreal to see TV-Asahi cut right from the end of Gozyuger, with no next time trailer, outro or anything, then run the same Acuvue commercial four times in a row. Super Hero Time ending with the announcer cursing out the viewers would be less awkward
