November is here and Squeenix changed up the menu at the cafe. They also have different coasters and placemats now, so once again the quest is on to try and get everything related to my favorite dragoon. And to ultimately try everything on the menu because at this point, why not?

As awful as the whole situation is, it was pretty surreal to see TV-Asahi cut right from the end of Gozyuger, with no next time trailer, outro or anything, then run the same Acuvue commercial four times in a row. Super Hero Time ending with the announcer cursing out the viewers would be less awkward

Finally, some good news!
Finally watched the first episode of the new Akakage. I'd heard some mixed reviews, but this was pretty alright? It's a little more slow-paced and grounded than the 60's show, but it's got the right ideas. Some parts are still straight out of that version. I couldn't confuse it with anything else.

There's a new version of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's (and classic Toei tokusatsu) Kamen no Ninja Akakage coming to TV-Asahi in 2 weeks and I'm only JUST finding out now? What is this, 1850?

action/platformer speedruns: yea we have to do 100 frame perfect tricks to clip through all these sections and it's all skill based and precise practice and speed

I went to the Square Enix Pop Up Cafe currently featuring the Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary limited menu. This is a collabo with Pasela (as in Kamen Rider the Diner) and it was a similar level of quality (re: great) if a little more low-key, being a temporary spot. Not cheap, but well worth it.

Went to the Slayers 35th Anniversary exhibition running in Tokyo this month. Lots of cool stuff, from a walkthrough summary of the light novels to tons of original art from the books, comics, magazine articles, etc (the anime productions also got a small section). And of course, a shop!

That was a good start. Wild story to potentially introduce a whole new audience to Rider with- “unemployed fan of Not-James Bond fails to stop an IRL kidnapping, life becomes sort of like Super Mario Bros 2”- but there’s enough style, action and mystery to keep it all going. Next week looks awesome.
