I’m ready to get to work

Countless parent teacher conferences. Useless counselors. Punishments for failing grades. Everything but addressing my real issue. Help was never presented. I didn’t get to be a kid. I didn’t get to be anyone. I was a young trans girl who needed help. I was a trans kid who deserved a childhood.

Every time I see some shitbag say “Let kids be kids” to denounce gender affirming care for minors, I think about my torturous days in school. Too crippled with self-hatred at the way my body was betraying me to pay attention in class or make friends. Hiding my dysphoria in an oversized ski jacket.
