In last night's game, I threw three wickermen mechs at my players. One of them responded by summoning up the spirits of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle and then sent the spirits to attack the mechs. 🤣

Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.
We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.
We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

This includes having made my desired gross income through my gaming, writing and crafting efforts. Having gotten Coven & Crucible: Beyond out. And finishing the edits for A Witch Is.
I did all that. It wasn't easy. And I'm proud of what I have done.

Since moving I've managed to do more events in a month and a half than in the 3 years I was in Wyoming. Even so, there are less attendees and they are spending less money. All my vendor friends are reporting the same. Being a small business or artisan right now is tough.

Running Coven & Crucible tonight for the playtest group. This is a game that I've run for 4 years and we're finally wrapping up the chronicle. We're starting a new one next year. I feel so grateful that people are willing to give up their Friday nights for this game.

There's also always the worry that once you hit your goal in your campaign that you won't get anymore pledges.
I know that some folks like to wait to see if a campaign is going to fund before they pledge. But the worry is still there.

I want to be clear, I don't begrudge the big campaigns for getting their funding. And I understand that they get a lot of help from marketing companies. But, yeah, it can be frustrating at times.

It doesn't help that the algorithm rewards those kinds of campaigns, pushing them to the front pages, so it skews expectations.

Running a #ttrpg crowdfunding campaign is a ride and humbling experience. You see all these wildly successful campaigns that raise six figures in like 15 minutes and you have a little game that slowly, but steadily makes its goal and you can feel like that isn't a success.

Going through the proof of A WITCH IS and made the comment that I hate my writing because it is pedestrian. A friend insists that it is, in fact, accessible. I'm trying to hold on to that idea as I get through the last 100 pages.
