What I find interesting is the commodification of citizenship. People will buy a 2nd (or 3rd) passport based on ease of getting through airport security or gaining travel visas even if they have no particular allegiance to the country, understanding of it's history, or affinity with it's culture.
This report is largely about Irish passport applications from people living in GB, but the continuing high number of new passport applications from NI is remarkable. There have been really profound identity shifts enabling huge numbers to formally assert being Irish:

Post-Brexit record in Irish passport applications from UK
Almost a quarter of a million people living in the UK applied for an Irish passport last year, the highest number since the UK formally left the European Union.

I always complain when people spell my name incorrectly - which happens a lot! But it turns out I'm not alone.

Saturday morning reading. What a gem!

"London One Hundred Years Hence" by G. Topham Forrest F.R.I.B.A. in @journalpa.bsky.social. Written in 1926 - I'd love to see a rejoinder written for 2026. Perhaps a PA scholar based in London today could do it? Any suggestions?

We're about to start Tattie Week in Edinburgh. Traditionally this was when parents would harass their children to help lift potatoes (tatties) out of the fields. Today it's when children harass their parents for Robux and Lego.

Loving the BBC2 Grand Ole Oprey, particularly the idea of ‘bringing Country home’.
Country music is one of those things we sent across the Atlantic, to be amplified in the vastness of America, then re-packaged and sold back to us.

Bizarre interview on BBC Radio Scotland. Introduced as a discussion about the UK Labour Conference and ends up being a character assassination of the former Scottish Labour Leader from 10 years ago! What was that all about?
