I think I’m starting to see why West Bromwich Albion are in so much trouble.

And you can listen to the podcast by clicking this magic link. @danielstorey85.bsky.social is our human kitemark of quality, @barcajim3.bsky.social provides context on Celtic that is now slightly past its best before date and there's me discussing Lens and loads of other stuff too.

Amorim Out: Who's Next?

And I really like the way the layout of the website suggests that the answer is me.

Oh, fuck off, I'm not re-writing the show again.
BREAKING: Celtic has sacked Wilfried Nancy after about a month in charge.

Oh, the Piers Morgan story in the intro is absolutely true as well. I genuinely felt very sorry for him and it remains one of my favourite media stories.

There's also a bit of me on there today discussing Lens and their surprising and sustained lead of Ligue Un. Interestingly, and I'm playing fast and loose with that word, Pierre Sage has got them playing the way I think Amorim wanted United to operate.

We recorded a perfectly good ROUTE ONE this AM, 2.5k words in the script, West Ham-fronted, it was really good.

Walked out the studio, saw the news, sighed and started again. Here's the new show with @danielstorey85.bsky.social on Amorim and @barcajim3.bsky.social on Celtic.

Right, the new Route One is recorded and in the bag, West Ham special today and I think I'll take the rest of the day off.

We're putting the new Route One together today (new episodes Mon/Wed/Fri) and the plan, as always, is to cast our eye around for stories that might slip under the radar elsewhere. So if your team has done something spectacular (good or bad) and deserves a mention, drop me a line...

Is Yang Hyun-Jun like this every week? He's a one man tornado down the right flank, it's like someone's been using the in-game editor. How on earth have Celtic been struggling?

I cannot believe that Maresca was crazy enough to use Man City’s interest to try to bluff Chelsea into giving him an improved deal.

He’s basically had a bet that Chelsea wouldn’t have the balls to sack their manager? Chelsea? Who sack all the managers? The man must be mad.

Chelsea are a very odd football club these days and most of their problems are self inflicted, but what on earth is Maresca doing talking to City reps?! I could understand if he was still at Leicester and eager to compete for trophies, but he was the bleeding Chelsea manager!
🚨 EXCL: Enzo Maresca informed Chelsea (twice late Oct & again mid-Dec after post-Everton comments) he was talking to people associated with Man City about #MCFC manager position if/when vacancy arises. #CFC contract obliged 45yo to do so 🚨

The only NY resolution I've ever managed to keep was 2018's bid to actually finish books rather than bouncing from one to another. I can only add them to my list when they're done and the sense of completion is quite something. I now have seven years carefully filed which is pointless, but nice.

If you’re a sci-fi and/or history nerd, this is the best show you’ve never watched. I don’t watch much telly, but I absolutely gorged myself on this in 2024.
Awesome! For All Mankind, one of the best ever sci-fi shows, is getting a spinoff show from the Russian perspective
It's true. Star City in production.

The majority of new podcasts sound, for want of a more technical term, a bit shit. But most people don’t seem to care and the aim is ‘impressions’ which means video views (YouTube, TikTok etc) count the same to advertisers as audio listens. And it’s much easier to get video views…

Liverpool should only take two points for this win. If I was Arne Slot, I’d be embarrassed to pick up all three after this display. Just leave one in the bowl as a sort of tip.
December 20, 2025 at 7:29 PM
That’s such a stupid red card and it’s banjaxed a Spurs side that were actually looking settled and willing to try to pin Liverpool back.

The last ROUTE ONE of 2025 is here, we're wondering if Arsenal will come unstuck at Everton (I don't think so), if Wolves will win their first game (I do think so) and what on earth is going on at Celtic.

Route One: Arsenal are fine…right? Right?
Welcome to the last episode of Route One in 2025 and the last in our current format. We’re returning to three episodes a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we’ve got all sorts of exciting plan...
