This strikes me as a brilliant idea, especially if it’s friendly to progressives and liberals who are not on board with the Democratic Party. We need alternatives. If we’d had alternatives before 2015, Trump never would have stood a chance.

If it weren’t for Blue Sky I would not have heard of @engelsbergideas.bsky.social, and would be missing out on many thought provoking articles. This one, in particular, has much to chew on.

Something has changed. I’ve been wearing my Gulf of Mexico T-shirt from @bittersouth.bsky.social for a while and getting the occasional comment. Today I wore it and had constant compliments, as well as people asking where I got it and how much it cost.

What do you all think? Americans everywhere wearing black and white on June 14th to honor #Marchofthepenguins and not a dictator’s Birthday?!
Spoken as a former Army Captain, I would much rather march on behalf on the Antarctic animals of @heardislandgov.bsky.social on June 14th instead of our Gov. Let’s get a #Marchofthepenguins on the 14th, with everyone wearing black and white clothes!

An excellent essay by Duncan Weldon.

He explains why, in 1914-1918, the civilian-led, democratic states of Britain and France adapted more effectively to the conditions of total war than autocratic regimes in Russia and Germany, where the military came to predominate.

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
NSF has posted an “update on priorities.”

They’re canceling all “DEI and misinformation/disinformation” grants.

And the guidance on how to fulfill the longstanding, legally mandated Broadening Participation requirement is utterly incoherent.
