This afternoon, three members of NHA's executive committee, @acls1919.bsky.social, @historians.org, and @modernlanguage.bsky.social, filed a lawsuit seeking to reverse recent actions that threaten to devastate the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Today (4/3/25) we learned that DOGE has begun terminating previously awarded NEH grants. We understand this includes operating grants to the state and jurisdictional humanities councils, scholarly societies, community orgs, & individuals.

On Monday, March 31, 2025 we learned that DOGE is targeting the NEH with the aim of substantially reducing its staff, cutting the agency’s grant programs, and rescinding grants that have already been awarded.

Last Friday, we learned that the House is proposing severe cuts to the FY24 appropriations for the Department of Education's international education programs—Title VI would be cut by 54% and Fulbright-Hays would be eliminated.
