María Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her fearless, decades-long struggle for democracy in Venezuela. Today, her daughter accepted the prize on her behalf at the Oslo City Hall.

HRF condemns the detention of Iranian Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights advocate Narges Mohammadi. She was arrested alongside other activists while attending a memorial for a human rights lawyer. Mohammadi was beaten so badly she was transferred to the hospital twice.
