Yesterday (w/help from my friend Jon) I made a hilariously truncated edit of one of the songs on my upcoming album (4:54→1:33) partly as an experiment to get a FLAC under 10mb and partly to turn it into Elvis Costello's Welcome to the Working Week and I'm seriously considering putting it out as a 7"

As we know, the moral of the Steely Dan story is that true perfectionism is futile, but the pursuit of it is one of the most compellingly human things imaginable. Also, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker were insufferable jazz dorks and massive nerds (endearingly). This is why everyone loves Steely Dan

Considering the possibility that Gaucho may in fact be the funniest Steely Dan album, which is no mean feat considering how often Steely Dan tries and is largely successful at being funny. It certainly has the best (i.e. the most ridiculous) one-liners
