I play old games, jrpgs and import games I can barely read. Studies japanese. Obsessive about game history. Sometimes draws. Sometimes.
So I got infinity points on this table at Pinball expo.
(For those worried, I did tilt it to dislodge it, it was just really stuck and took quite a bit of work)

"New Far Side comics" was definitely not on my bingo card for this week. They're not bad!

#25- Atelier Marie Remake (Switch)
5 of 6 endings achieved (didnt 100% the compendium). Compared to other time based Ateliers, this is arguably way too generous, even with them making the standard ending slightly harder. Very relaxing RPG to grind out though.

I played the first hour of Angelique: Tenkuu no requiem.
This is a very slow and borderline boring rpg buoyed by nice cutscenes and pretty effeminate boys, if you're into that. I initially thought "this is ok for 1994" only to be shocked it was released as late as 1998! Not Ruby party's best.

#22- Dragon Ruins (Switch)
An expanded game jam project that is basically ultra-stripped down Wizardry. Fun but by the time I finished both original and remix mode, it was wearing a little thin.

#21- Endless Monday: Dreams and deadlines + overtime (switch)
I wasn't into it in the first hour, but it gradually pulled me in and became quite the fun experience. Despite all the silliness, the twist reveals a burning message the creator wants to sear into you. Great game.

For my first ever attempt at #MarioPaint I drew the ff1 black mage, as its a pretty simple design.

Pfew, finally got this out.
Since Uma Musume is bringing up whether or not gacha is the most harmful game genre again, I wanted to talk about a dystopian trend that's popped up lately, which no one is talking about.

The Dystopia of Cozy Games
Is a game still cozy if the premise is to distract you from a dying world?

One of my bigger gaming blindspots is I never played DOOM past the first few levels. For whatever reason, playing half of the first scenario of Rise of the Triad made me want to see how they compared and before I knew it I was up late finally completing Knee Deep in the Dead. Its still great.

If you need a channel to binge to get your mind off things today may I recommend Earlybird?
I've been throwing them on during work and enjoying listening to them talking about old PC adventure games and weird PS1 horror titles <3

#16- Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (Switch)
A neat little minigame compilation that unfortunately gets a touch grindy near the end due to the coin requirement to unlock challenges. Still had fun even if I personally dislike 1 or 2 games in this collection.

Also I don't think they expected me to have this drum ability in the first boss fight. #Runefactory

Despite having the exact same name, this is actually a sequel. Cleared all 60 stages in the puzzle mode and cleared story mode. The higher resolution allows for bigger boards but nothing really different.

Pretty simple puzzle game. Cleared the first 4 difficulties and got up to like 650 in challenge mode. Nothing too special but I enjoy the cutesy Kirby and friends style.

Japanese game cover design is widely admired by players, a true craft they have perfected over the years. In an effort to make their product stand out, many studios explored a more tactile range of materials. The resulting effect is as amusing today as it is instantly nostalgic.🧵
