In Floyd County, KY, 32 school bus drivers called in sick to protest:

The sickout, organized by the drivers themselves, disrupted student transportation across the district. They are members of the @neatoday.bsky.social. Union was not involved.

Public sector employees are prohibited from striking, so they will sometimes call out en masse citing sickness - called catching the “blue flu” (named for police departments that would call out sick to put pressure on cities during collective bargaining).

Significant strike drop for Aug 25 - only 15,000 days not worked in 18 strikes by 4,000 workers. Because workers were on holiday? More likely reflects absence of no resident doctors' strikes as were in July (when 83,000 days not worked in 225 strikes by 26,000 workers).

A **win** for Oscar Mayer workers. Fire and rehire needs to be tackled politically but in the meantime can be fought industrially.
