In this short conversation, Brownsberger and Friedman beautifully lay out the case for #SinglePayerHealthcare but fail to name it.

Is this political strategy or something else?

SNAP has existed for 60 years. Benefits have gone out every single month over those six decades, including during government shutdowns. Until now.

Make no mistake: The money is available to fund SNAP during this shutdown. Trump is making a choice to withhold it.

Don’t forget this.

4/ This weekend was also the first time SNAP benefits missed their first of the month payout. Two federal judges have ordered the USDA to release the funds, and today, it was announced that the Trump admin will use $4.65B from SNAP’s contingency fund to cover half of November benefits.

1/ Open enrollment for Obamacare (ACA) kicked off this weekend, during which more than 20 million families will shop for health insurance coverage. There's some sticker shock though: prices are up ~30% this year if tax credits aren’t extended. Here’s what else is happening in #publichealth 👇

Another day of the government shutdown.

This isn’t about numbers — it’s about people. About whether your neighbor can see a doctor, refill a prescription, or keep her coverage.

Health care isn’t a political bargaining chip. It’s a right.

Massachusetts has the resources to mitigate the harms of this generationally bad bill - By investing in SNAP + DTA's workforce, we can protect families from being incorrectly cut-off and ensure everyone can access food with dignity.
