Darnit... I only popped on to the KS website to check something, but then I slipped and Wonderland's War Duel fell into my pledge basket. I really should be more careful.

Europe Economics has 'compared' the energy usage of AI translation and human translation. The numbers are a nonsense – AI is not some green saviour who vastly outbids us wasteful, gluttonous human translators (how dare we need feeding?!). Here's the take-down: www.loekalization.com/blog/blog/20...

Exploding Kittens board game. This is literally called the "chaos" side of the board. I lost both times. Story of my life. 🤦 (facepalm emoji)

Tonight's gaming: K2. First playthrough. Enjoying it so far, but then no-one has fallen from the mountain and plummeted to their death yet.
Totally different from yesterday's Happy Little Dinosaurs.

Excellent piece by Danny Hahn on why we literary translators won’t be replaced just yet!

AI won’t replace us human literary translators just yet
Yes, it can turn French words into English ones, but true translation is so much more than that

Whole book “translated” for $100? You get what you pay for, and if you don’t understand what makes human translators valuable, maybe you don’t value the creative work that goes into the writing process either.

AI translation service launched for fiction writers and publishers prompts dismay among translators
UK-based GlobeScribe is charging $100 per book, per language for use of its services, but translators say that nuanced work can only be produced by humans

Playing Azul Duel for the first time. Think it's now my fave Azul.
I'd probably order them as:
1. Duel
2. Summer Pavilion
3. OG
4. Sintra

Just won at Rattus Cartus because the other two players went bust with too many rats at the end. I knew it would be low so only had 3 rats. Hahahahaha
Yeah I'm a bad winner ... but I don't often get the opportunity to gloat. So I'm making the most of it 🙃

We have hundreds of games. A well -stocked shelf of opportunity. Happy to plough days into a complex game with lots of minis. We know our way around BGA if we ever needed something new to play.
So what did we play last night?

Llama. For the hundredeth time.

Someone asked "what's the most boring subject for a game?" and I commented "a telephone hotline game". Then I had an idea for a luck-based dice game for it. Technically that makes me a game designer. I think I'd best stick to the day job, generally. Enjoy ;) hcoopertranslations.co.uk/free-print-a...

[1830] Harrie's railway empire is going okay, so far. Trains are getting a bit pricey now. My corporations are Erie, and Chesapeake & Ohio. It's only our 4th game I think. Does anyone recommend playing near New York etc, or have any tips there? Everyone seems to struggle with that area of the board.
