I'm running Deepseek R1 on my MacBook Pro and I'm still flabbergasted how easy it was to install and how well it runs given that I use a pretty small version (9 GB).
And yes, the local version does not have censorship of Chinese political topics.

We’re sad to share that we're halting production at Die Gute Fabrik due to the challenging funding & investment scene in games right now. We downed tools earlier this month & have been doing our best to support the team who'll be looking for work from mid-March. Full statement:
