The creek.

Encountered at a youth baseball tournament in Austin, TX. This lovely creek runs through the complex.

This is a rare cellphone image from me. My usual gear is a Canon FTb.

The focus is a sapling (not sure what type of tree) that is caught in a sunbeam and appears to glow compared to the shaded surrounding vegetation. Fallen tree trunks or branches frame the small tree in front and behind. There are strong vertical and horizontal elements to the image, with the foreground dominated by the horizontal fallen trees. Strong vertical lines of trees in the background create a visual contrast to the low foreground. Image has been manipulated in Lightroom to deepen the contrast between the lighted and shaded areas.

Contrasty photo with odd angles and geometric shapes. This is the underside of the ONEOK Boathouse in the Gathering Place, Tulsa OK. A black and white image of an older and well used hymnal. Lots of mid-tones, but also contrasty with shadow and sunlight. One can almost feel the texture of the cloth binding and the wood surface. Also intriguing to me is the half of the book shows signs of sun bleaching while the half that sits in the pew rack show much less of this effect. I still recall the smell of this well used tome as well as the coarse feel of the cover.

This is the ceiling of the Williams lodge at the Gathering Place in Tulsa OK. the ceiling is composed of a variety of native Oklahoma woods. The chimney is made of Oklahoma red sandstone. The lines on the ceiling are complex and can pull you in to their patterns. The bricks on the sandstone chimney have great texture and variation. An odd picture with no particular perspective to tell you what is going on, but the patterns themselves are intriguing.

Picture is of a gentle stream running through the woods and ending in a shallow pool. Many shades of green are represented. Lighting is ethereal with a slight mist in the distance. I find this to be a very peaceful image and takes me back to a time, a place, and people I cherish.

This is a black and white photo of a hand gently caressing a rose bloom. It is high contrast with dramatic natural lighting. This old picture has always been one of my favorites. One challenge with it, however, has been getting the cropping correct. I think this works, but the full frame has more of the wrist and forearm, which also looks pretty well. Anyway, here it is.

This is one of several art pieces constructed of found objects throughout the Nature Preserve near my home. Many are odd looking creations like this. Whimsical, well thought out and, I think, pure to the environment in which they are found. This is old ranchland that has been reclaimed (well, unused and let run wild) for a few decades. Even before it was sanctioned as a Preserve, one could find creatives expressing themselves this way along game and walking trails. Always fun to spot something new.
