Some hand sheets I made for the animation team! I looked at how Dana drew hands a lot and coupled it with my own anatomical knowledge of hands. #KnightsOfGuinevere

Ok I'll be spamming lantern bugs this week. This pretty one is Saiva gemmata from Thailand.

Starts with a nice sky-blue gradient from the base of its wings with a vibrant green stretching down to a hint of red while being covered by black-stroked yellow polka-dots.

Plenty of insects are nocturnal, but few wasps are among them. In South Korea, Vespa binghami is one such rare nocturnal hornet, elusive and little researched, until now. A new study Vespa binghami hornets' peak activity is just before midnight, and they prey mostly on moths.

#Arachtober is almost over and I've still got plenty o'arachnids so here is a three pack of weird, wonderful neotropical harvesters. These are not spiders, they are more closely related to mites. Many harvesters are omnivores and feed on small insects, fungus, and plants.

Only had time for a relatively short wander with Bugfriend today, and wanted to introduce her to Snootfly. We found Snootfly (my first sighting of the year). 🖤
Panorpa lugubris, the mourning scorpionfly. Late fall/winter friends here in Florida. I missed them.
