This is 38! In this year I'd love how to freaking figure out Bluesky so I can actually build community here.

Watching the met gala this year is making me so emotional. So much Black excellence. I turn 38 in a few days and this is the year to get a tailored suit baby! #metgala #blackdandy

Thunderbolts really surprised me. I got the action and humor I was expecting, but the dialogue centering mental health was really a welcomed gift. I'll be watching again soon.

So over at Booktok we were told First Time Caller was an must read, so Noelle did. Takeaway?

Cute 90s style romcom with a great FMC. The MMC? He doesn't believe in love when his dad stood by his mother going through cancer and is happily traveling together. Not a spoiler but it drove me nuts💙📚

Was Cory Booker being "performative"? I don't think so, but at the end of the day, impact matters. He made history and I was proud to watch him finish strong.

Hopefully Strom Thurmond took some time out of his busy schedule burning in hell to get the news that he was just beaten by a black man.

Last weekend I said goodbye to my 17 year old "puppy", Ottobear. Through this grief, I was able to allow my loved ones to support me without trying to "keep it together". I took space as I needed it and accepted all the help that was given to me.

Thank you, Otto, for a final lesson in love.

This doesn't make John Deere a perfect or even progressive company. If DEI didn't make sense for the company and their bottom line, they wouldn't do this. DEI matters. Period.
💥 BREAKING: At John Deere's annual shareholders meeting today, shareholders overwhelmingly rejected an anti-DEI proposal brought by the same group that targeted Costco and Apple. An anti-DEI proposal from the NCPPR received less than 1 percent of votes.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

Today, I found out that the Department of Defense banned the Well-Read Black Girl anthology by Glory Edim. I was one of its contributors.

I'm really hurt right now. So if you have it in you, please buy books by Black women from independent bookstores.
