Crossing Osaka's Yodo River, we can see two of Osaka's many bridges: the New Yodogawa bridge in green, and behind it the Nagara Bridge in white. 大阪の淀川を渡ると、大阪の数多くの橋のうち2つが見える。緑色の新淀川大橋と、その奥に白い長柄橋だ。

A photo from a year ago. It's been cold in Kyoto these days. I ran across this image of a shrine at Tenryu-ji temple, and I felt it appropriate to the season. 一年前の写真だ。 このところ京都は寒い。天龍寺の境内にある神社を写したこの写真を見返したら、今の季節にぴったりだと思った。

The sun is setting but the lights are already on at Osaka Station with its enormous canopy, and the surrounding buildings. 日が沈みつつあるが、大阪駅とその巨大なキャノピー、そして周辺のビルではすでに灯りがついている。

Looking southwest from the Carrot Tower in the Sangenjaya district, the setting sun illuminates Tsurumaki Dori street. 三軒茶屋のキャロットタワーから南西を見ると、夕日が鶴巻通りを照らしている。

These boats travel up and down the river, offering food and drinks to passengers cruising the river in flat bottomed yakatabune boats. I've photographed them many times before, but the stark contrast of bright early morning sunlight against the deep shadows of the rest of the river made this special. これらの屋台船は川を行き来し、平底の屋形船で川下りを楽しむ乗客に食べ物や飲み物を提供している。 以前にも何度も撮影したが、早朝の明るい日差しと川面の深い影とのコントラストが、この一枚を特別なものにしている。
