have since killed my proxmox instance so i have to wait until i get home to fix it :/
I've heard bad things about openvswitch (and its use in proxmox sdn) but since you can't even assign a network interface to a VM directly it might become a necessary evil

It'd be cool if polymorphism and inheritance was a thing you could do in like Postgres or something

django manage.py scripts are so slow... every django app I run in my lab is mildly annoying to manage purely for this reason

There are some beautifully cursed things that one can do with python list comprehension

As much as I want to be a keyboard navigation only neovim chad with nixos on my framework, I don't think I could ever give up the comfort of full blown JetBrains IDEs (GoLand, IntelliJ, and PyCharm my beloveds)
Doesn't mean I won't try though. There's two laptops in my bag most of the time anyway...

I love Golang so much, it's so close to perfect but the fact that it doesn't have dedicated syntax for enums...

this is truly the only day-to-day issue I've encountered

having fun with dns has the same vibe as "i'm not stuck in here with you, you're stuck in here with ME"

The funny thing about Tailwind supposedly being very flexible is that actually a lot of websites built with it have the "Tailwind look" to them and you can tell pretty quick lmao
Although a lot of times it's because they're using Tailwind UI

reminded of how spoiled i am by modern devex as i was annoyed just now that i had to wait 3 minutes instead of 30 seconds for something to deploy

to expand on this; i'm learning it for a class on programming languages (focusing on syntax, semantics, and implementation) and while it was hard to pick up at first, it's now very intuitive. most of what i'm doing though is translating types into implementations and using recursion in cursed ways
I'm starting to like OCaml... help?

on the bright side it'll support YAML, JSON, and TOML for config and i can probably write better validation logic
using pkl for config in my dns project has been a disappointing experience. in theory and development, it works nice - until i tried to deploy it via Nix. i think the issues are possibly related to how Nix ensures reproducible builds, but nonetheless it's been annoying.
time to switch back to yaml

Reading J.C.R. Licklider's 1960 paper "Man Computer Symbiosis" makes one realize how visionary the early architects of today's internet were. In sum, this paper is a shockingly accurate prediction of how we use computers today:

getting sr-iov working with a cx3 on my proxmox host is proving quite the challenge so far...

It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.
